Lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden

Martina Hoogland Ivanow (born in 1973, lives and works in Stockholm), studied photography in Paris then New York, at Parsons School.  After an international career in the 1990s in London, where she worked for cutting edge fashion magazines (Dazed & Confused, i-D, the Face…), she returned to Stockholm in order to devote her time to her personal projects that then took her to the remote island of Sakhalin in Siberia, to Terra Fuego, across Europe (Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Sweden) and to the USA.  Her work has been presented in many solo and group exhibitions, including at the Swedish Institute (Paris), Aperture Foundation (New York), Hermès Foundation (New York), Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Berlin), Moderna Museet (Stockholm), Copenhagen Photography Centre, Barbican Gallery (London) and in galleries.

Today her work sits in the public collections of the Moderna Museet (Sweden), Museet Fotokunst (Denmark), Swedish Art Council and the Victoria & Albert Museum (UK).  Martina Hoogland Ivanow has received numerous awards such as the  Scanpix Photo Award (winner) and grants (Hasselblad Foundation, Swedish Arts Council). She has published several books: “Far too close” (SteidlMack 2010), “Speedway” (Livraison Books 2013), “Elephant and Castle” (Kning 2011) and “Satellite + Circular Wait” (Livraison Books & Art and Theory, 2015).
